Lisa Principe (b. 1993) is a Western Australian multidisciplinary artist and educator whose practice explores the profound relationship between people, memory and place. Engaging with a diverse range of mediums, she investigates landscapes as sites of transformation, where histories of destruction, resilience and renewal coexist. Through layered imagery, material processes and the interplay between figuration and abstraction, Principe examines how places hold traces of the past while continually becoming spaces of rebirth and possibility, reflecting the human experience of carrying our histories while constantly evolving into who we are becoming.

 

Storytelling is central to Principe’s practice, blending realism and expressionism to capture both the physical presence and intangible qualities of landscapes. Informed by personal archives, cultural histories and a deep connection to place, her work explores how landscapes shape memory, identity and our shared human experience. Inviting viewers to experience the land’s presence and form their own connections.

A graduate of Curtin University with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art and a Diploma in Secondary Education, Principe has over a decade of experience as a secondary Visual Arts educator and workshop facilitator. Alongside her studio practice, she shares her knowledge of creative processes, technical skills and artistic exploration with students and the wider community. Her recent exhibitions, In Parallel (2026) and Spirits of the Earth (2025), were both successful, further developing her ongoing investigation into the relationship between people and place. Her practice also extends into the public realm through large-scale private and commercial mural commissions.
